SaskMusic is the non-profit, member-based association representing the commercial music industry of the province.
We work with artists, musicians, songwriters, music studios and the many other creative and industry roles associated with the music scene. We maintain a deep music archive including catalogue material, and monitor new Sask. music released in all genres.
We offer the following resources that may be of interest to production companies:
- Connections to source Sask. artists and existing original music, encouraging and helping to facilitate synch usages of Sask-made music;
- Information on Sask-based scorers/composers;
- Provision of curated lists of music options to fill a specific brief/scene;
- Distributing calls-for-submissions to the music community when new leads are desired.
In many cases, SaskMusic provides these services at no cost to the production.
We also curates many different types of playlists on Spotify, YouTube, and our own website, for music seekers who wish to discover music options on their own. We provide consultation services to our members, including helping new music creators learn the basics of synch licensing, and access to free legal advice (helping for licensing negotiations) through our Legal Program.
Film/TV Composer Registry
We are looking to renew our list of film composers in the province who are available to work to spec. This will allow us to quickly provide accurate information to productions looking to hire Sask talent for film, TV, or commercial scoring usages.
Please get in touch with us with your current resume, types of projects you are currently looking for/availability, weblinks and contact information. You are welcome to post this same information publicly in the Saskatchewan Music Directory by logging in to your profile or creating a free basic profile.
This is an ongoing call.
