PROSTHETICS

Emma Amber

December 2021

Thematically, PROSTHETICS compares the finding of oneself and starting over to the study of replacing lost limbs with prostheses. Musically, PROSTHETICS is an angsty pop project experimenting with robotic vocals and dark synths. Some musical influences include Halsey, Lorde, Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Childbirth, girl in red, and Olivia Rodrigo. The six songs included on PROSTHETICS are Get to Know Me, The Only One, walk away, Convert to Lesbianism, words without action, and tolerate it. Get to Know Me examines the dating scene and 'getting out there' after a breakup. The Only One is a song about self empowerment, but subtly introduces cracks in the foundation of self-esteem. walk away is a song about being unsure about how to communicate with an estranged ex-partner. Convert to Lesbianism is a coming-out song and lesbian anthem that explores the concept of discovering one is potentially a lesbian while dating a man. words without action marks Emma Amber's most intriguing song yet musically, exploring themes of gaslighting and emotional confusion. tolerate it is Emma Amber's breakthrough single from September 2021, exploring the question; do we enjoy things, do we even hate them, or do we simply tolerate them?
