Cameron’s 2014 debut “Sad-Eyed Lonesome Lady” garnered her “#1 Canadian Album of 2014” from influential arts & culture website Pop Matters, and a spot on the long list for the prestigious 2015 Polaris Prize. Her sophomore effort retains the sparse template of her first record: one voice, one guitar, both recorded in intimate fashion and to tape. For Daybreak, Cameron had the luxury of being able to choose from her large collection of songs; the result is an album that showcases her storytelling style, working in perfect tandem with sparse production and themes that explore love, loss, and finding joy when times are rough.
