After a series of successful events with Shaw TV, including an appearance on “Stripped Down”, a Shaw Director’s Choice Award, and a meeting with the Shaw TV Executive Producer in Prince Albert, Larry Krause and Shaw TV launched The Timberline Music Show. The program is dedicated to shining the spotlight on country music talent in Saskatchewan.

Drawing inspiration from successful community music programs like Don Messer’s Jubilee, the Ian Tyson Show, and of course, the Tommy Hunter Show, and combining those ideas with Western and Country Gospel roots, Krause found his niche.

The show first aired in the late winter of 2013, with season one consisting of 7 shows. Season two started this past February, and includes 13 episodes that will feature a variety of guests selected from Krause’s extensive network. “I have been drawing from a pool of performers I know or have heard of, through my connections with various music organizations, including the SCMA, ACPA and SaskMusic,” notes Krause. “There is a definite vision that I hold for the show that seems to be on track, based on the known demographics that follow it on a regular and faithful basis.”

The Timberline Music Show has featured JUNO nominees, up-and-coming artists, and an assortment of musicians in between. “I am impressed by the professionalism of the people in our music industry, and can say that I was pleased with every performer and their contribution to the success of the show.”

The future of the program will depend greatly on the viewers and their response, but the positive feedback regarding concept and content, combined with the professionalism and experience of the Shaw production staff, makes forthcoming seasons look promising.

“There are quite a few performers that I would still like to see on the show; some have not been able to make the schedule fit, others I have just heard of. There is no shortage of high quality performers to have on the show, and in turn, the audience is enjoying the performances.” Krause concludes.

The Timberline Music Show airs on SHAW-TV Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm, and Sundays at 5:30pm, and has just been added to Access Cable across Saskatchewan (check your local listings for days, time and channel). For more information, visit www.larrykrause.ca.
