Submissions are now open for the 13th edition of the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA). Canadian artists and groups whose albums were released in Canada between June 15, 2016 to June 14, 2017 are eligible. The 13th edition of the CFMA weekend takes place November 18 and 19, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario. For the first time ever, the weekend's focus events will take shape as  two hosted Gala showcase open-to-the-public evenings. Awards will be given out throughout both evenings. Combining the most loved events of the Canadian Folk Music Awards' first twelve years - the vibrant energy of the live music showcases and the awards gala -  will capture the true heart of the folk community while celebrating the 2017 nominees and the category recipients.

Established by Canada's burgeoning and internationally-recognized folk music community, the awards currently boast 20 categories. Five nominees are chosen for each category. A two stage jury process by 100 jurors located across Canada representing all official provinces, territories and languages determine the official recipients in each category. Complete eligibility requirements are listed here: http://folkawards.ca/eligibility/
