MMF CANADA WEBINAR: Behind the Scenes - Producer Agreements & Best Practices

Wed. Oct 12, 2022 11AM SaskTime

The role of a music producer has changed massively as genres have evolved and the music industry shifts. Join music producer Mike Sonier and entertainment lawyer Matt Gorman for a discussion about producer relationships, contracts and best practices. We will address many aspects of a producer’s role in the music industry and the relationship between artist and producers (as well as producers and managers), including:

What is the difference between production and songwriting when it comes to royalties and backend splits?

What are some of the key industry and contract terms that are specific to a typical producer contract agreement with an artist?

What are producer points and how are they calculated?

When does a producer need a manager?

How can producers protect themselves and their creative intellectual property?

What are some red flags for artists and producers when working together?

A Q&A - please submit questions in advance when registering!
