Irish is a globe-trotting troubadour; regardless of where she takes the stage, her presence and charisma simply command attention. She delivers a sonic and emotional experience, transcending language and location, that reaches the very core of what connects us.

Irish Mythen was born in County Wexford, Ireland. The youngest of three children, Irish fell in love with music at an early age, absorbing the music that her parents enjoyed – Makem & Clancy, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and other folk standards. As a teenager, she taught herself to play the guitar and discovered her voice. She began to learn the music business and realized where her passions were leading her. Irish’s first visit to Canada was in 2006 when she performed at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival; she fell in love with Canada and subsequently emigrated here. She currently makes her home on Prince Edward Island.

Irish performs a universally engaging and accessible brand of contemporary folk with a tinge of more traditional Celtic influence that stems from her proud heritage. The result is a sound that’s truly timeless and transcending, anchored by her dominant and dynamic vocal prowess. Her first two full-length albums were Sweet Necessity in 2008 and Open Here in 2011. Her third album, Irish Mythen, was released in 2014. Along the way she has garnered an ECMA and a SOCAN award.

In recent years, Irish has toured the globe, finding herself billed at major festivals and opening for artists such as Rod Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, Lucinda Williams and Melissa Etheridge.
