With roots in psychedelic, garage, punk, and alternative rock, Knee Socks is an explosive musical collective from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Founded in 2014 by the riff-obsessed guitarist Declan Hills and rhythm machine Brayden Grieve, Knee Socks wasted little time in constructing the psych-rock music that became their 2015 self-recorded basement album Shoddy Operation. In 2016 Knee Socks added longtime friend and bass expert Gabriel Ferguson to their lineup and brought their tight interlocking grooves, soaring guitar melodies, and improvisational flair to their studio debut, the EP We Were NOT Told There Would Be Bees.
Take two dashes of midwestern 90's emo, three tablespoons of punk-aggression, and a dallop of petty-depression, and you have Cookin' With Grandma. Based in Saskatoon, this two-piece folk/indie-punk band fill the recent stylistic void in the local music scene. With their catchy "ex girlfriend" lyrics, Cookin' With Grandma is sure to hold measurements of relatability to most.
