SUFFERSURGE

Suffersurge hails from Regina, Saskatchewan – a city located in the heart of Canada’s flat-land. Starting with a strong hard rock foundation, the band completes their sound with a heavy metal presence that screams with in-your-face guitar riffs and blazing solos. Thunderous bass and drumming hold down the rhythm section while the diverse vocal style conveys an attitude that makes the listener believe that Suffersurge is serious about what they do. In February 2009, Suffersurge independently released a 5-song EP, The Mind Inside, which was recorded at Touchwood Studios in Regina by Justin Bender (Into Eternity, Magnetic) with Grant Hall. A few of the songs saw some air-play on Regina’s local rock station, The Wolf 104.9 FM, which also showcased the band on its spotlight segment, New at Nine, featuring the album’s lead-off track, “Nicola.” After the release of The Mind Inside, Suffersurge played many local shows to help promote the album, however, recurring health issues in the band put a halt on any touring that would take them away from home. Jon McCaulder had suffered a battle with kidney failure during the making of The Mind Inside which left him on dialysis for almost 3 years until he finally underwent transplant surgery in 2011. Chad Chapman also went under the knife to fix a fractured bone fragment in his wrist and then endured a second procedure to correct the mistakes that were made in the first one. Subsequently, both guitarists needed plenty of recovery time which meant no live shows and very limited rehearsals. As 2012 begins, the band is firing on all cylinders once again with an abundance of new material ready to be recorded. Suffersurge plans to take their music across Canada within the year and hopes to begin recording a new album in 2013.
