Saskatoon Screamfest III - NIGHT #1 featuring headliners LAVAGOAT! Special thanks to Vangeli's Tavern for facilitating our first opening night - welcome to the Saskatoon Screamfest family! Full lineup for Friday, October 27th:

Lavagoat - LavaGoat has long been a staple of the Saskatoon metal scene, bringing fans a unique blend of many heavy influences ranging from Doom to Death to Thrash. Now, coming into their 10 year anniversary year, LavaGoat shows no signs of slowing down. They released their 6th disc, "Ladies From Hades", in September of last year, a concept EP containing "...five hymns to wicked women [that] build a temple for the chosen to worship in.". Reveling in what is being hailed as their most doom-instilled release yet, LavaGoat has enjoyed cult acclaim throughout Canada, and beyond. Not many bands have a way of breathing new death into each album like LavaGoat does, making each album and EP a unique exploration of a different style or artistic edge. An example of this would be their 2014 live-in-their-jam-space disc Weird Menace; a single track containing 6 horror themed songs. These Doom filled Easter eggs are what keeps followers of LavaGoat thirsting for more. We are insanely excited to share this Saskatoon institution with you, and to share in the excitement of the 10th year running!

Scythra
Regina’s Scythra have only been representing Saskatchewan’s capital Regina since 2014, but in 3 years they have managed to become a band that is known for their vicious style, and powerful live performances. Slamming synchronized riffs become technically proficient odysseys, forever glued in place by the robotic booming of the drums. Scythra comes to us inspired by groups like The Oracle, and Cannibal Corpse; yet they are treading a path wholly their own, and are seemingly on the cusp of further success and acclaim.
Wasting no time, Scythra released their debut EP ‘Chaotic Eradication’ (2014) during their first year together. It was incredibly well received by the local metal beat, and quickly jumped to Saskatoon where they have enjoyed playing on a few occasions. Their anticipated follow up ‘Human Cesspool’ (2017), which was welcomed into eager ears just this past March, has not only snagged the attention of Saskatoon Screamfest; but the local metal community, and shows much promise for the coming year. 2017 will be the first year that Scythra joins the Saskatoon Screamfest roster.
Check out Scythra’s shiny new album ‘Human Cesspool’, but if you like it as much as we do, make sure you pickup a copy for yourself!

Saskatoon Screamfest III is confirmed for Saturday, October 28th, 2017; and will feature headliners Untimely Demise! Special thanks to Louis' for continuing to support our main event! Full lineup for October 28th, 2017:

Untimely Demise - Untimely Demise has been playing their powerhouse style of death/thrash metal to Canadian audiences since 2006, when the band was created by brothers Murray and Matthew Cuthbertson. Turning some heads with their debut EP “Full Speed Metal” (produced by Glen Drover – formerly of Megadeth) in 2009, Untimely Demise followed up their debut with 3 full length studio albums over the years (2/3 being produced with Drover). Over the years they have toured Canada extensively; and in 2014 toured the UK, Germany and Belgium with Massacre. Most recently they have celebrated their 4th release, the acclaimed album “Black Widow” (2016). Untimely Demise has opened for such critically acclaimed acts as Razor, Kataklysm, Goatwhore, 3 Inches of Blood, Anvil, and many more; as well as receiving high praise from metal media such as Metal Hammer, Decibel, Terrorizer, and others. Reviewers on invisibleoranges.com, a website and blog spot for the world of Canadian metal today, say that ‘Black Widow’ is “… easily their most varied and accessible work to date, finding an impeccable balance between blinding speed, classic heavy metal dynamics, and the searing guitar work of Matt Cutherbertson…”. “Black Widow” is available at http://untimelydemise.bandcamp.com/ .

Agony Spawn
The name Agony Spawn has become known in every corner of the Saskatchewan metal scene, where the groove/thrash band has been reaching ears since 2010. By combining aspects of old-school metal with their adrenaline-drunken take on what metal is today, Agony Spawn puts on the kind of show you can’t look away from – the headbanger’s finest inspiration. Taking notes from bands like Dying Fetus, Gojira, and Lamb of God; this group is always ready to turn the crowd on its end, and have some fun.
After sowing their seeds with their two EPs, ‘Metal Vitality’ and ‘Engineering Obliteration’ (2010, 2012); Agony Spawn released their first full length album ‘Demonstration of Evisceration’ (2014). The momentum from this most recent release has yet to die down, as they continue to be a highly sought-after band in Saskatchewan. Their resume is always getting more impressive, most recently having announced that they will be opening for British heavy-metal giants Diamond Head and Saskatoon’s New Jacobin Club at the Capitol Music Club on September 30th. Agony Spawn has also frequently enjoyed the pleasure of headlining shows for a bevy of Saskatoon locals; bringing their loyal followers, and high intensity to any venue.
Don’t miss night #2 of Saskatoon Screamfest III on Saturday, October 28th at Louis’, where Agony Spawn will play as direct support to headliners Untimely Demise! We are happy to bring Agony Spawn into the Saskatoon Screamfest family, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future. Screamfest III is still a while away, but ticket availability will be announced soon – and for now, Agony Spawn’s recent video of their new song “Infectious” will have to do:
