Merv xx Gotti is heading to SXSW in Austin TX (March 7-15/2025) for official showcases, including one as part of a BreakOut West cohort. He was chosen for official showcases from amongst thousands of artists around the world vying for the performance opportunity. BreakOut West is presenting artists from all over Western Canada on Thursday March 13, 2025 at the venue Swan Dive. BreakOut West selected the artists for their stage, which is an official showcase of the international multimedia conference and showcase event. In all, 20 artists from across Canada will be performing at this year’s SXSW.

Merv xx Gotti is an award-winning Canadian multi-genre artist, best known for his solo singer-songwriter dream-pop project, “Guitar Songs”. His debut solo release was released in March 2024 and has amassed over half a million streams on Spotify while charting on Earshot’s Top 30 campus radio charts for eight consecutive weeks.
The EP’s first single, “Jiujitsu,” was played on over 21 CBC stations, Canada’s national public radio and television broadcaster, as well as on over a dozen college radio stations across Canada and the US - the largest syndication pickup of a Saskatchewan song in the past five years.
At the end of 2024, “Jiujitsu” was one of the two Saskatchewan songs to place in CBC Music’s Top 100 Canadian Songs of 2024.
Within the past year, Merv xx Gotti has toured across Canada and the US, sharing the stage with Canadian icons such as Chantal Kreviazuk, Great Lake Swimmers, and Big Sugar, and performing at premier international festivals such as SXSW, NXNE, BreakOut West, and M for Montreal.
Merv xx Gotti is currently preparing for his upcoming Silver Sun artist residency in New York.
