Prince Albert duo Jaime April and Jason Moon (APRIL MOON), bring a unique twist on traditional country music to the table with their newest single ‘Long May We Roam’, recorded in their adopted hometown of Liverpool, UK.
Inspired by the simpler pace of life on the road in a campervan, ‘Long May We Roam’ captures an optimistic summertime vibe, tapping into the type of quirky, traditional country sound exemplified by bands like Nitty Gritty Dirt Band but modernised by indie/folk groups such as Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show. Big harmonies and an eccentrically tuned banjo weave through lyrics that celebrate life's simple joys while yearning for adventure and exploration.
As songwriter and rhythm guitarist Jaime April explains, “We have been basically on the road for the past 10 years, splitting our time between 3 countries, following the weather and travelling to where the gigs are. This past year we bought a campervan to experience a bit more of the UK and we absolutely fell in love with the whole van life thing. Our life is certainly not fancy or glamorous but it is beautiful in its own way and that is the feeling that we’ve tried to capture in ‘Long May We Roam’.”
To give their audience a feel for the lifestyle they’re describing, Jaime and Jason released a video tour of their campervan on YouTube in advance of the release which really showcases the quirky style and personality of the pair.
This is the third single from APRIL MOON since their full-length album ‘The Other One Was You’ in 2022 in which they first started to explore a more Americana / rootsy sound than their previous rock and folk offerings.
Jaime and Jason have been awarded a Record & Release funding grant from Help Musicians UK in support of a series of singles to be released over the next 8 months.
