CUPID’S HEART RELEASE ATRIUM- A PUMPING MAKE-ROOM DEBUT EP

JUNE 26, 2023 (Prince Albert, SK) Cupid’s Heart is about to release their debut EP, Atrium, following the release of their premiere single, “Juliet” in January 2023, and follow-up single, “Safe” May 2023. Erik Mehlsen describes the EP as “booming, belting, badass underground rock n roll…hard to believe it's only two people!” Atrium was recorded, mixed, and mastered at SoulSound Recording Studio in Regina, SK. Atrium will be released for streaming and download on JULY 14, 2023.
Band members Stacey Dunn and Emma Jean reflect on their current milestone and what Atrium means for them:
Stacey Dunn:
“Atrium takes the listener on a journey. Just as love is a journey - there can be moments of excitement, warmth, comfort and security and on the flipside, there can also be confusion, pain, toxic dependency. Atrium explores interpretations of love and how it can exist within ourselves and with others; it invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences and connections.”
Emma Jean:
“Atrium is a collection of songs that feature different types of relationships, and navigates the waters of emotionality both calm and turbulent. Some relationships are wonderful and healthy and growing, and some are less so. Some of these songs investigate emotions of love, connection, security, and friendship; and some consider themes of isolation, soul-searching and rumination. We chose the name Atrium for our debut EP, a word doubly associated with both a chamber in the heart, and a welcoming light-filled room you would step into. We’d like to welcome you to step into our hearts and our worlds for a while. We hope you enjoy Atrium.”
ABOUT CUPID’S HEART
When you see Cupid's Heart play live, you get the feeling that you are in on something special. The energy is electric, and there is a type of raw, belted, authenticity- as unexpected as cello with electric guitar.
This unique duo sparked to life within the context of queer love, and some casual jams quickly evolved into a full-fledged musical project. Cellist Stacey Dunn is a member of Matachewan First Nation who began her journey with the cello as an adult. When she met musician and artist Emma Jean they were both able to share creativity and love of music in a new way. Alternative rock fits them like a baggy sweater. Best described as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana” by Scott Roos from North Sask Music Zine. Atrium is available on JULY 14, 2023.
