SASKATOON – The Jill Mack Memorial Scholarship for Audio Engineering will be an annual $5000
scholarship awarded to a woman or non-binary Saskatchewan high school graduate to attend a Canadian
recording arts school.

Jill Mack was a beloved musician, recording artist, producer, and was one of only three professional
female audio engineers in Saskatchewan. She volunteered her time and skills to her community, shared
her expertise at Girls Rock Camps, and gave hands-on workshops in Saskatoon. On March 13, 2022, Jill
passed away after a brave battle with cancer.

Saskatoon’s music community and supporters have come together to establish a new scholarship to
honour and continue Jill’s legacy. The Jill Mack Memorial Scholarship for Audio Engineering,
administered through the Saskatoon Community Foundation, will provide $5000 annually to a female or
non-binary individual seeking professional audio training in Canada.

“The loss of Jill has left a hole in our community and in our hearts,” said Aryn Otterbein, a close friend
and neighbour. “She dreamed of creating a space in Saskatchewan where women and non-binary people
could see themselves as professional sound technicians. We want to realize her dream by helping others
like her follow in her footsteps.”

Fundraising activities for the scholarship are currently underway with a live music event taking place at
Amigos Cantina on April 22, 2023. The evening will feature a dynamic lineup of all-female acts, including
The Garrys, All Girl Chill, The Electrolites and Aurora Wolfe, plus a silent auction and prizes. Tickets are $20 plus taxes and are available at the door or in advance online at
showpass.com/jill-mack-memorial-scholarship-fundraiser.

Scholarship donations can be made online through the Saskatoon Community Foundation at
saskatooncommunityfoundation.ca/funds/jill-mack-memorial-scholarship-fund.

“In all she did, Jill supported and inspired so many,” said Barrett Ross, a close friend and professional
colleague. “In a province with such a large music community, many are still under-represented and we
hope this scholarship increases the number of female and non-binary audio engineers in Saskatchewan.”

The Jill Mack Memorial Scholarship for Audio Engineering will be open for applications this fall.
