The Dialogue Foundation and its partners launched the 25th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), which takes place from March 1 to 31, 2023. The theme for this year’s edition is “Celebrations.” Alexis Normand and Eddy King are the 2023 spokespersons for the RVF, with its wealth of opportunities to rejoice, celebrate, gather together and have fun. Activities will be taking place throughout the month, all across Canada.

In the words of Allister Surette, Chair of the Dialogue Foundation’s Board of Directors, “The Dialogue Foundation is very proud to launch this 25th edition of the RVF, which represents 25 years of celebrating the Canadian Francophonie in all its diversity. This is a time for all Canadians to discover the richness of the Canadian Francophonie and to join us in celebrating! We are enormously grateful for the contribution made by our many partners, without whom this event would not be possible.”

Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie brings the cross-Canada tour of Alexis Normand, who is honouring us with her return as a solo artist in 2023 with a new bilingual repertoire brimming with warmth and vulnerability.

Her live music delivers elegant songwriting, finely crafted lyrics, and nuanced interpretations that delve into her doubts about identity and her insecurities around language.

The Fransaskoise will make a tour of the country, during which Alexis first documentary will be screened after a 40-minute musical performance. Alexis wrote and directed French Enough, her first short film, produced by the National Film Board of Canada. After the intermission, she will hold a Q & A session and converse with audience members about language, identity and place.

By her open generosity, Alexis hopes to shine a light on the points of tension faced by many Francophones in minority-language situations. The rich exchanges that ensue will allow for greater understanding of the diversity and plurality of Francophone identities.
