Saskatoon songwriter/artist Jackie Kroczynski has accepted an official showcase invitation for a new music industry event being held Jan 22-26/2023 in Coolshannagh, Monaghan, Ireland.

Your Roots Are Showing is Ireland's newest and largest annual folk, roots, and traditional music conference. The conference will provide opportunities for showcasing, professional development, and networking for artists and music industry professionals in Ireland and the international Folk community, with tailored programming for people at all stages of their careers, from emerging to export-ready.

Additionally, Your Roots Are Showing is proud to host discussion panels highlighting the impact of the Irish language, folklore, and storytelling on music and songwriting. Their aim is to preserve and advance Ireland's rich and varied culture for future generations, and they invite musicians from around the world to discuss how their own cultures and stories have impacted their music.

Over five days and four nights, Irish music industry delegates and international guests will take part in networking sessions, panel discussions, social gatherings, mentoring sessions and intimate showcases throughout the conference facilities.

Showcase artists will perform for members of the folk music industry from around Ireland and the world, from festival directors to house concert hosts and every type of live venue in between, as well as folk DJs, managers, agents, labels, performers' rights organizations, music supervisors, and others. As well as the Official Showcases, there will be many opportunities to perform and jam with musicians from around the world during lobby sessions going late into the night.

About Jackie

Jackie K is a Prairie girl from start to finish, and the wide-open spaces of Saskatchewan, and the people that inhabit them, find their way into every corner of her songs. Her music has been compared to that of Tami Neilson and Lucinda Williams, and she is happy to name gifted songwriters like Ron Sexsmith and Nancy Griffith as influences on her work. She also doesn’t want us to forget that her love of jazz as performed by artists such as Diana Krall and Nina Simone continues to percolate through her songwriting, her recordings, and her performances.

Jackie’s new album, She’s A Story, is set to be released in March 2023 to coincide with International Women’s Day. This album spotlights the spirit of women living through a variety of trials and triumphs, featuring songs about situations that are familiar yet not always celebrated, all performed with Jackie K’s trademark Canadiana sound.

Jackie acknowledges support from Creative Saskatchewan's Market Travel program for this event.
