DECEMBER 6, 2022 (Prince Albert, SK) Cupid’s Heart is about to release their debut alt-rock single “Juliet”, from their upcoming EP created in collaboration with Orion Paradis of SoulSound Recording Studio. Scott Roos from North Sask Music Zine has described Juliet as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana”. Juliet will be released on JANUARY 6, 2023.
Cupid’s Heart’s songwriter, Emma Jean says:
“Juliet is a vibe. It’s an in-between, not sure where you fit, in the scheme of love and romance vibe. A floating of identity, a search for greater meaning. A back and forth with pressures that say it is better to be in a relationship than not, that if you are coming to a party you are expected to bring something or someone with you. Sometimes it feels like there isn’t much representation on what love and lust and belonging mean from a queer female perspective, so hopefully this song makes more room for that experience and the emotions that go along with it.” - Emma Jean
Expressions of love and the search for connection and meaning permeate the song Juliet in less than typical ways. Calmer verse elements play to the “nice” and “pretty” expectations of female romance, while the dirty electric guitar roars to life in the chorus adding powerful contrast and a raw release of energy to the story, complicating what we might be led to expect.

ABOUT CUPID’S HEART
Every band member has a volun-told story, that’s how bands start. That’s what happened to cellist Stacey Dunn when she crossed paths with songwriter Emma Jean. What began as playing a couple covers at an open mic night soon sparked into a full-fledged project. The duo combine electric guitar, cello, drum machine, and sultry expressive female vocals that swing the genre of alt-rock at times into the realm of punk or even country.
