Congrats to the 2022 JUNO Nominees

(March 1) The nominees for the 51st annual JUNO Awards were announced today by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS).

We wish to congratulate all the nominees, and highlight those with Saskatchewan connections:

  • Regina-based Tesher has received his first JUNO nomination, recognized in Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
  • Weyburn-born, Nashville-based Tenille Arts has received her first JUNO nomination in Country Album of the Year, for “Girl to Girl. ”
  • Regina-born, Toronto-based Andy Shauf has been nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year for “Wilds”. This is his fourth JUNO nomination.
  • Regina-born, Vancouver-based Colin James received his sixth JUNO nomination, bringing him to a total of 18 nominations including 7 JUNO wins. "Open Road" is up for Blues Album of the Year.
  • As well as a shout out to The Fretless for their Contemporary Roots Album of the Year nomination for “Open  House” - trio member Karrnnell Sawitsky originally hails from Saskatoon. It’s the group’s third nomination, including a win for Instrumental Album of the Year in 2017.

The winners will be announced at the 2022 JUNO Awards on May 15, taking place at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto. For the full nominee list, visit junoawards.ca.
