SaskMusic is pleased to present three Saskatchewan artists at Liverpool Sound City Digital 2021, taking place April 26-May 1. Our showcase presentation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021 12PM-1PM CST / 7PM-8PM BST.
Marissa Burwell, Lancelot Knight, and velours were filmed by SaskMusic earlier this year as part of our Winter Showcase initiative*. These live-filmed showcase performances were purposefully created with the intention of having high-quality content for export-ready artists that could then be pitched to domestic and international export events such as this one.
For this event, SaskMusic provided our Winter Showcase participants to Liverpool Sound City festival organizers, who then adjudicated and selected these three artists for inclusion.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Marissa Burwell is an indie act from Regina, known best for her captivating yet endearing performances in basements and coffee shops. On her self-titled EP, we see an artist starting to find her sound, as she wrestles with love, loss, and everything between. They are the consummate songs for a late drive home, or the score to a deep conversation with your closest friend. You can feel the power in Burwell's voice. Her tremendous control and laid-back melodies make her first effort an easy listen. With big plans for upcoming tours and festivals, it is apparent that this won't be the last time we hear her name.
Lancelot Knight is a singer-songwriter who has toured in Germany, New Zealand and across North America. Spanning genres and all forms of artistry, he also plays guitar for his father’s band, the JUNO-winning Chester Knight and the Wind; and was nominated for a JUNO through his guitar work on Joey Stylez’ album "The Black Star". He also plays guitar for the upcoming musical by author/musician/playwright Tomson Highway titled ‘Lynx Lamour goes to Nashville!’ Lancelot also recently co-created and composed the music for the play, Reasonable Doubt.
velours
Born and raised in Saskatoon, velours is a singer/songwriter full of emotion, carried by a velvet voice, who is continuously writing and performing alternative pop music that connects with others on an empathetic level. Her desire to understand and explore feeling through music, while not taking things too seriously, resonates with her audience. This Canadian artist, speaking English and French - and sometimes a weird mix of both - has been singing and writing music since she could jam to CDs her mom would put on in the car, ranging from anti-establishment punk, to indie pop, to classic rock; this artist has fallen in love with (and mildly obsessed over) all kinds of music. She aims to connect with audiences at a visceral level and still have fun.

Sound City Digital makes its comeback from 26 April-1 May. Following the success of last year's virtual event, they just had to get back online - even as they are planning their rescheduled, annual in-person event for October 2021.
Digital will take place on Guesthouse with 6 consecutive days of headline artists, global emerging talent showcases and cutting-edge industry panels and in-conversations co-curated with Association of Independent Music. Sit back, discover and immerse yourself in sounds and insights from across the world of music.
Sound City captures the vibrancy of Liverpool UK with an unforgettable 3 day festival that sees established names perform alongside a constant stream of local, national and international emerging talent. After hosting numerous iterations of Sound City across 3 different continents over the last 14 years, 2021 events include the Digital stream in April, and the (rescheduled) in-person event in October. It is a place to discover the giants of tomorrow and has consistently delivered in terms of being amongst the first to present the best new talent to a music loving audience and world class business audience.
