This Saturday, November 24th in Regina we'll be launching the 91.3FM CJTR, Regina Community Radio and CFCR 90.5FM, Saskatoon Community Radio music compilation Got It Covered: Saskatchewan Musicians Cover Each Other’s Music Vol. 2, sponsored by SaskMusic, Long & McQuade and RAIS (Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon).

The party will be at The Cure Kitchen + Bar with Regina garage poppers Pop Pop Vernac and Saskatoon psych rockers Shirley & The Pyramids, who will both melt faces, and DJ Sunny Adams (from Dodecahedron - 91.3FM CJTR) will spin tunes while your recover. Entry is free, CDs are $10 by donation and Saskatchewan drinks will be on special all night.

The compilation features 16 songs by Saskatchewan bands covering other Saskatchewan bands, and will be released on CD and online via the two stations’ respective BandCamp websites (details to follow). Launch parties will be held in both cities featuring bands selected for the compilation.

After CJTR launched the first volume of the Saskatchewan cover songs compilation in 2016 to great success, CFCR joined in to further broaden the scope of the audience & bands involved. The project sought submissions in early 2018 and received almost 50 applications from a wide range of Saskatchewan musicians, which were whittled down to 16 selections.

“We had a really tough time choosing which artists to include, but in the end we think that we’ve come up with an amazing track listing,” says Amber Goodwyn, CJTR’s Program Director. “We’re so honored that all these musicians invested their time and talent in this project.”

“We were so excited to jump on board with this great project,” says CFCR’s Program Director Jay Allen. “With our selections, we really wanted to feature a good variety of styles of music. We’ve got folk, pop, country and of course some rock n’ roll. We’re so proud of how it all turned out!”

This compilation is a partnership between Regina Community Radio and Saskatoon Community Radio and will also be used for promotion and distribution of Saskatchewan to Canadian media and music industry professionals.
