November 14, 2018 in SaskMusic News
M for Montreal is a cutting-edge music conference and festival that takes place every November, showcasing approximately 100 local and international buzz-worthy and breakout bands in 15+ venues across Montreal. Top music industry professionals mingle with fans and artists at one of the most vibrant music events of the season. Founded in 2006 in collaboration with one of the most respected festival programmers in the industry, Martin Elbourne (Glastonbury, The Great Escape), the event hosts an expansive list of industry delegates from around the world. “M” is an independent organization whose ambitious mission is to help up-and-coming artists both to become better known locally, and to launch their careers outside Canada.
SaskMusic will be on the ground to build connections with industry colleagues, attend conference activities and support our Saskatchewan showcasing artists. The following were selected by M for Montreal organizers after they applied directly through the festival’s submission process.

A trio of sisters, The Garrys make early garage-inspired doom-wop. Crafting soft dreamy harmonies with bright yet lazy guitar lines, the band will make you question if the swell of California surf actually breaks in Saskatoon. Gas up the wagon - this is the soundtrack to hot summer nights and drive-in makeouts.
Watch for The Garrys:
Saturday November 24: Saskatoon at Amigos 30th Anniversary Party with Chixdiggit and The Smugglers
Beach Body are an undeniably chill post-death surf quintet from Regina composed of founding members Rory Copithorn, Ian Patterson, and Gaelan Malloy, along with newcomers Jesse Bryksa and Jon Neher. Since their inception in late 2017, the band has released two Eps, Plain Life, and Curb Ciggiez. Beach Body's "undeniably chill" sound has been likened to drinking a cool glass of iced tea.
