Picture Radio is a self-proclaimed “Prairie Funk” trio from Regina, SK. The band includes good friends Paul Huber (guitar and voice), Jesse Scobie (bass) and Josh Haugerud (drummer). The band is well known in the Regina music scene, playing shows with local favourites Daytrip, Snake Oil Salesmen, Tiger Charmer, Johnny 2 Fingers and the Deformities, Son Howler, Ava Wild and Brodie Moniker.
The band is known for their fun and energetic performances with audience interaction.
About the Self-titled EP:
Their first EP is a mix of Rock, Funk and smooth grooves. The first song on the album “Forest City” gets the party started with a steady beat and danceable guitar. “Forest City” is about taking a walk in the Queen City with headphones on, immersed in music.
The second single “Little Comet” takes the listener on a slow groove with smooth transitions of ups and downs that keep you dancing.
The third single, “Jakes Funk”, named for Jesse’s dog, who hung out in the jam space and sadly passed away during recording, is Picture Radio in a nutshell. Slow builds to a funky verse, a break down and spotlight performances from all three members throughout. The song covers heartbreak in an upbeat and epic manner.
Praise for Picture Radio:
"Picture Radio is a super-fun party band with some great three piece rock dynamics. Their jams bring to mind early Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alan Vega and The Rapture" – Amber Goodwyn (Natural Sympathies, Program Director at Regina Community Radio)
"Enter Picture Radio - a band whose obvious discourse for your run-of-the-mill rock & roll sound has helped shape a debut EP with a refreshing funk appeal!" ~ Taron Cochrane – Taron Cochrane Entertainment
"Heat up the Lava lamp and crack a beer, because Picture Radio just took good old fashion beer swillin' rock n' roll all the way to funky town! If ZZTop had made a cameo in the movie Boogie Nights, they might have sounded something like this!"- Val Halla
"The new single "Forest City" by Regina's Picture Radio is a provocative rock-funk romp. Fans of Cake, Jimi Hendix or Kula Shaker will want to check out this trio from the prairies!" - Jeremy "Pilot" Pilon - Host of "The Cockpit" on 91.3FM CJTR
