Artist Info

Megan Nash: On her brand new album Seeker, singer/songwriter Megan Nash collaborates with ambient/alt-rock unit Bears in Hazenmore with brilliant results. In sharp contrast to the starkness of her previous acclaimed album Song Harvest Volume One, Seeker takes Nash’s roots-based songwriting into bold new sonic territory, displaying the undeniable chemistry she has forged with the group over the past year.

Slow Down Molasses: Taking cues from the wide-open spaces of their home, Slow Down Molasses craft expansive, texture-heavy pop songs that break into storm squalls of drone, delay and feedback. Their latest album 100% Sunshine (Noyes Records) teams them with Tony Doogan of Glasgow’s legendary Castle of Doom (Mogwai, Wintersleep) for a new sonic chapter.

The Avulsions: The emergence of The Avulsions and their expansive, stately take on gothic-tinged post-punk provide a compelling reason to re-think conventional wisdom about the endless horizon of the sometimes bleak horizons Canadian prairies. After joining forces in 2015, they spent the next twelve months carving out their unique voice, which they half-jokingly refer to as “end-times gospel.”

Ellen Froese: Hailing from a dairy farm in Saskatchewan, young hip-swinger folk-singer Ellen Froese is a musician and songwriter who also plays in a bluegrass/folk group called In With The Old. With performances including Folk Alliance International in Kansas City and Merlefest in North Carolina, Ellen is certainly a busy bee.

SaskMusic's participation is made possible through Creative Saskatchewan's Market & Export Development Grant Program
