BreakOut West Announces the Second Wave of Festival Artists
featuring Australian Guest Artists

July 11, 2017, Edmonton, AB: BreakOut West is excited to announce more western Canadian talent to add to the BreakOut West Festival line-up, and another special addition to spice up the 15th anniversary of BreakOut West. 2017 will mark the first year BreakOut West has welcomed Australian artists to showcase at the annual event, who will perform publicly in addition to the 50+ western Canadian artists who will take the stage in Edmonton during BreakOut West, this September 13-17. This exciting news is made even better with the inclusion of alumni artists The Wet Secrets, and rounded out by a talented variety of rock, country, urban, metal, roots, electronic and pop music from Francophone artists, Indigenous artists and many more.

Festival Wristbands and Kick-Off Concert tickets can be purchased online now via Ticketfly. The Kick-Off Concert takes place Thursday, September 14 at Myer Horowitz Theatre, while the festival wristbands grant access to any and all of the festival shows on September 15 and 16, pending venue capacity. Full delegate registration to the BreakOut West Conference (which includes festival and awards show access) is available now at www.breakoutwest.ca and reservations are also available at this year's host hotel, the Sutton Place Hotel.

From New South Wales, Letters to Lions and Winterbourne ( will be showcasing alongside other festival artists, taking in the conference and working with Canadian artists and industry to create relationships. This addition was developed through a partnership with Australian Music Week (AMW) to feature the first international artists performing as part of the festival, reciprocating the agreement made that brought four western Canadian artists to AMW in 2016. Poor Nameless Boy, Sarah MacDougall, Amy Nelson and Youngblood participated in Australian Music Week under the banner of BreakOut West, and each saw success through the effort, resulting in career developments within the music industry in Australia. Five prominent Australian industry members will also attend BreakOut West 2017 participating as conference speakers, and working with Canadian musicians and industry to create opportunities across the ocean.
