BreakOut West Announces the First Wave of Festival Artists and Kick-Off Concert Line-up

June 15, 2017, Edmonton, AB: BreakOut West is pleased to announce the first wave of artists for the 15th Annual BreakOut West Festival, taking place at venues throughout the city of Edmonton, September 13-17, 2017. BreakOut West is also excited to release the line-up for the Kick-Off Concert, commencing the weekend's festivities at the Myer Horowitz Theatre on Thursday, September 14. This year's BreakOut West features the best in emerging talent from western Canada, in every genre from pop to country, rock to hip hop, jazz, classical, children's music and everything in between. A full schedule of the event will be available soon on BreakOut West's website.

In addition to featuring the best in emerging talent this year, BreakOut West is also featuring some legacy artists at the festival in celebration of the 15th anniversary. Captain Tractor is the first of several alumni bands to be announced, who last played BreakOut West in Moose Jaw in 2007. Many of the Kick-Off Concert artists including Said The Whale and Scenic Route to Alaska have also showcased at BreakOut West in the past, and now they're back to be featured in the flagship concert of the event. More legacy artists will be announced with the next round of festival artists. In addition, 2017 marks the first year BreakOut West will showcase an artist from Nunavut as part of a unique partnership with the government of Nunavut, encompassing the entirety of the northern territories.

The 15th annual BreakOut West is made possible thanks to financial support from FACTOR and the Government of Canada, as well as the support of the City of Edmonton and Tourism Edmonton, and the Province of Alberta. BreakOut West thanks all our funders, partners and sponsors from 2017 all the way back through its history, and looks forward to many more years of celebration and career development of artists from western Canada.
