We were very sad to learn of the too-soon passing of bassist Steve Bunka on November 9. Steve was well respected in the Saskatchewan music community, touring extensively as a member of the Touchtone Gurus (including headlining our Flatland Music Festival one year). He will be greatly missed.

A wonderful mentor and musician, and Saskatchewan legend, Howard Leyton-Brown passed away on January 13. His accomplishments included - Leader of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Director of the String Department of the Regina Conservatory of Music, member and conductor of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, founding Chair of the Department of Music at the University of Regina, a doctorate from the University of Michigan, Member of the Order of Canada, a Distinguished Flying Cross for wartime service, and many more. Our condolences to all those grieving his loss.

Our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of artist and songwriter Lorrie Ann (Church) Poitras, who passed away on January 31. Lorrie will be remembered for her mentorship of up and coming artists, was a Saskatchewan Country Music Award-winner, and nominee for National Aboriginal Achievement Awards and Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.
