The Pistolwhips new album, Voices (due out early 2017) was recorded between June and October with acclaimed producer Eric Ratz (Arkells, Monster Truck, Billy Talent). The tracking was completed at Revolution Studios in Toronto, and the balance of the record was recorded at Vespa Studios in Toronto. The band spent the majority of the summer and early fall residing around the Toronto area, and were absolutely immersed in the recording process. Eric pushed the band to find new limits, and discover the growth inside themselves that had taken place since 2014’s ‘On Your Side’ was released.  Through in depth pre-production, attention to every detail, and an overall world class recording experience, The Pistolwhips have put together a world class album. For an independent band to have someone like Ratz on board, is a huge boost, and really proved to the guys that they were creating something special.

The first single, ‘Voices’ is a great showcase of what’s to come on this new album. In the first few seconds, the listener is fully aware of what the band sounds like. Within ten seconds, there is little left to the imagination.  Lyrically, the single touches on the world we are living in right now, while allowing people to appreciate different meanings. It’s a song that can be taken literally to some, but also is riddled with subtleties, and hints and what the band feels is happening today.

Knowing that the musical landscape has changed, The Pistolwhips are excited to embrace the new release with an incredibly supportive team around them. From management, to the agents, and supporters like Sask Music, Creative Saskatchewan, FACTOR, and endless other supporters, the guys are hitting the ground running with this first single! Already the 2nd most active indie single through DMDS/Yangaroo, the song has been featured across the country in just it’s first week at radio.

The guys are ready to start sharing this music, and will be announcing a full national tour in December that will bring them to markets from one side of Canada to the other. To give people a taste of the new music, The Pistolwhips are headlining New Year’s Eve at Amigos in Saskatoon.
