SaskMusic will be making a return visit to Tennessee for the annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, September 20-26. Continuing with a series of successful collaborations with Manitoba Music, Alberta Music, and BreakOut West, we will present two showcase events to the music industry in Nashville under the BreakOut West Events banner, as well as attending networking events, representing the Saskatchewan music industry and in particular our folk, roots, bluegrass, and world artists.

On September 20, the Music Row Dinner will feature music from all three provinces, including a performance by Regina’s Amy Nelson, as well as Sykamore (Alberta) and Brett Boivin (Manitoba), at a private event for targeted music industry professionals. The second event, the BreakOut West BBQ on September 22, will feature Nelson as well as Leaf Rapids (Manitoba) and Sykamore (Alberta), and is open to music industry professionals, Americana delegates, and the public. Nelson was selected following an open submission call by SaskMusic and industry jury process.

The 17th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference gathers thousands of artists, fans, and industry professionals from all over the world, including legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, and industry professionals for six days of music and education. The conference portion features numerous panels and seminars presented by international music industry leaders.

Western Canada is known for cold winters and hot music but is no stranger to the joys of a summer afternoon backyard BBQ party. The fourth annual BreakOut West BBQ brings a stellar presentation of new music plus food trucks and a dose of East Nashville attitude to the backyard of The Groove.

About Amy Nelson

Confident, strong, and often sarcastic, Saskatchewan's Amy Nelson performs music that sounds just like her personality. Fuelled by her self-proclaimed “bad luck” in love, and her “do it yourself” attitude, Amy’s songwriting reflects her life experiences - the good, the bad and the ones most people don’t talk about. In 2016 alone, Amy has won the national Jack Daniel's Supporting Act contest and the Canadian Country Music Association’s Spotlight Performance Contest. She spent May and June in Nashville writing for her third CD, which she is now in the process of recording with producer Dan Swinimer of Manicdown Music. Following a busy summer of performing, which included shows at the legendary Calgary Stampede, Amy is fresh off of multiple showcases during Canada’s Country Music Week as winner of this year’s CCMA Spotlight Contest, including both the official Kick Off Party and the Post-Awards Industry Reception.

About the Americana Music Festival & Conference

Each year, the Americana Music Festival & Conference brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, and industry professionals for four days of music and education. It features numerous panels, seminars and much more, proudly providing Nashville's most educational music industry forum. This special event covers the interests and needs of artists, managers, labels, radio stations, publishers, agents, promoters, retailers, legal and business affairs executives, merchandisers and new media professionals – all enthusiastically attended and presented by music industry leaders.
