CBC Music’s ”Searchlight” contest 2016 - Regional Top 10 list for Saskatchewan included: Amanda Hagel, The Johner Boys, The Tarp Kickers, League of Wolves ft. Leot Hanson, Johnny Don’t, The Law and the Prophets, Anna Haverstock, Rosie & the Riveters, Eric Taylor Music, and Keiffer Mclean & the Curiosity Club. Congrats!

The Stickman Drum Experience took place June 29-July 3 at St. Michael’s Retreat & Conference Centre, Lumsden. The multi-day drum retreat provides a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience for drummers of a wide range of ages and abilities. Players learn, jam and hang with world-class musicians in an inspiring, creative, non-competitive environment. This year’s session leaders were Kevin Churko, Mark Kelso, Carter McLean, Ronn Dunnett, Emmanuelle Caplette, Andrew McEnaney, Jason Sutter, Brent Fitz (via Skype), hosted by Jayson Brinkworth and Chris Dimas. Next year’s dates are set for June 28-July 2.

This year’s 620 CKRM Proudly Saskatchewan Showcase winner was Kara Golemba (“Sheila Ann Memorial Award”) and Kara was also winner of the Casino Regina “Spirit of Saskatchewan” Songwriters Award for her song “Mason Jar”! Placing 2nd and also recipient of the “Fred King Memorial Award” for most promising entertainer, Justin LaBrash,  and third, Devin Larochelle. Ray Whitton and Roland Corrigal also gave wonderful performances. The top 3 took the mainstage at the Craven Country Jamboree as part of their prize (www.620ckrm.com).
