SaskMusic congratulates Regina’s Amy Nelson on being selected to represent Saskatchewan in the Canadian Country Music Association’s 2016 Spotlight Performance Contest.

Artists from nine regions of Canada will be presented in an online poll, through which the public will decide which one artist will receive an official performance spot during Country Music Week in London ON, September 8-11, 2016. The event is the annual celebration of the country music industry in Canada, bringing together industry and fans for four days of seminars, networking opportunities, and non-stop music. It’s a key event at which both artists and industry members do business. However, a limited number of official performance spots are offered up to artists, making the Spotlight Performance an excellent opportunity for Regina’s Nelson to be heard.

“I cannot explain how big of an opportunity this is. Labels, managers, agents and other industry professionals in the Canadian country music industry will be in attendance for Country Music Week, so having a chance to perform with all of them in attendance could be career-changing!” notes Amy.

Amy is currently in ‘Music City’ Nashville TN, where she is busy networking with industry professionals, fellow Canadian artists, and writing songs for her third album, due for release later this year. Upon her return to Canada in July, she’ll be diving into a summer performance schedule, including dates at the Calgary Stampede.

Just a few highlights of Amy’s career thus far include winning the Jack Daniels National “Supporting Act” contest; making the Top 10 in the Radio Star national talent search; a feature on CMTs “Big In A Small Town” TV series; winning Big Dog 92.7’s “The Next Big Thing” contest in 2014; and 25 Saskatchewan Country Music Award nominations (including five Female Artist of the Year nominations). In addition to her impressive career as an artist, Amy is the founder/owner of “Sing Like A STAR,” a vocal instruction academy that teaches over 300 students and employs 15 teachers in 3 locations in southern Saskatchewan.

The finalist that receives the most votes on the poll by 3:00pm (5:00 pm ET) by Friday, June 17, 2016 will win one performance spot at Country Music Week 2016. Please note: only (1) vote per IP address will register with the online polling system - so make your one (1) vote count!
