The last time local rock group Orbital Express played in Regina the loonie was near par, Mayor Pat Fiacco was in his final term, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders were four head coaches away from their present leadership.

Headlining a show at The Exchange on Saturday, vocalist and drummer Adam Ennis admits getting the band back together has been on his mind since their final show.

“It’s been quite a few years and it’s always been on the back burner,” said Ennis. “Everybody kind of went their own separate ways; (Guitarist) Drew (Duchscher) was in school when we broke up the first time. He was having an issue where he wasn’t quite sure how big of a deal school was going to be and he wasn’t sure he could commit all the time. It was the same with Landon (Mosiondz) on bass where he wasn’t sure he could commit either and there’s where things kind of ended.

“(Guitarist/vocalist) Roberto (Giannini) and I always wanted to press on musically and continue to do things because school wasn’t in the picture for either of us. The two of us had talked about continuing the band without them and had written a few songs between the two of us but it didn’t really work out and out of respect for the other guys we decided against it.”
