Saskatchewan Country Music Association Announces 2016 Winners

This weekend at the 27th Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) Awards Gala and Industry Awards at TCU Place in Saskatoon, the SCMA recognized its 2016 award winners. Melfort’s Darlene Tuleta led the way with three awards; taking home the Roots Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and sharing the Female Vocalist of the Year with Jess Moskaluke (Langenburg).  Alex Runions of Regina took home the coveted Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Leading the Industry Awards was Saskatoon’s Bart McKay who won Record Producer of the Year, All Star Band (Keys) and Recording Studio of the Year for Bart McKay Productions. On the media side, Saskatoon’s 92.9 THE BULL won the Fan’s Choice Radio Station of the Year (Major Market) and Yorkton’s GX94 Radio took home the Fan’s Choice Radio Station of the Year (Secondary Market). The weekend got underway on Friday with the Kick-Off Party that included the Songwriter’s Circle and Cabaret at The Longbranch. Saturday started with the SCMA Industry Awards and Brunch and Youth Showcase. A Keynote Interview with Chad Brownlee (sponsored by SaskMusic) took place in the afternoon followed by the SCMA Awards Show & Gala hosted by Chad Brownlee.  Closing off the night was the New Artist Showcase and After-Party.  Sunday was a full schedule with the SCMA AGM followed by the Country Gospel Show.  Closing out the weekend was the Roots Café.
