Regina-based ambient folk group Bears in Hazenmore is hard at work on a new EP. They recently landed a Top 10 finish in the nationwide CBC contest “Rock Your Campus” with song Winter Air, and were featured on CBC R1, Global Morning News and numerous newspapers and blogs for their achievement. Along with playing shows with local artists Close Talker, Coldest Night of the Year and Poor Nameless Boy in the past months, the band is currently planning a Western Canadian tour (www.bearsinhazenmore.ca).
Glenn Sutter is deep into recording a new album with thanks to Creative Sask., and in the meantime released a special track for St. Patrick’s Day; “Too Drunk” didn’t make the cut for his 2008 album, but the fun song suits the holiday. He launched his first music video, “Sunlight After Rain,” on December 8 with an online release and public showing at The Artful Dodger, Regina. “Sunlight” is a song about going home, and the video was directed and produced by the wonderful Rory Dunn, shot over 2 days in summer in Wolseley SK (www.glennsutter.com).
Three best friends - Chase Rysavy, Troy Waggoner, and Eric Taylor - started Highwind for their love of creating music and playing live. It began as a side project in summer 2012 but has since turned into a full time project. They have a wide variety of influences ranging from Brand New, Cursive, Bright Eyes, and many more. Their first self-produced EP “We’re All Alone” (August 2014), received positive reviews, and they are hitting the studio to work on a full length project.
An original modern rock band based from Regina, Beautiful Thieves is made up of Curtis Roettger on lead vocals and guitar, Paul Getz on lead guitar and backup vocals, Mitchell Marriott on drums and Curtis Rostad on bass and backing vocals. The band is hard at work on their first CD. Influences include Three Days Grace, The Headstones, Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, and many others. They’re played numerous shows over the last two years including the recent NoiseFest.
