SASKATCHEWAN CCMA NOMINATIONS IN 2015

SaskMusic is extending congratulations to all of the Saskatchewan nominees for the 2015 Canadian Country Music Awards! The award winners will be announced during Country Music Week in Halifax NS, September 10-13. Overall, Saskatchewan is represented in nine award categories, celebrating the extensive talent this province has to offer.

This year, Langenberg’s Jess Moskaluke received nominations in three of the most prestigious CCMA Award Categories: Album of the Year (“Light Up The Night”), Single of the Year (“Cheap Wine and Cigarettes”), and Female Artist of the Year. In 2014 Jess took the CCMA title for Female Artist of the Year, and was nominated in three other categories including Rising Star, Interactive Artist of the Year, and Album Design of the Year with design team Sheila Hash/Brandon Heard/Mediavandals. She also received a CCMA Showcase Performance Award in 2011, determined by a jury following performances by the 2011 showcase artists.

Saskatoon’s Bart McKay, winner of the 2014 CCMA for All Star Band – Keyboards, has been nominated in this category for the fifth consecutive year. Bart has been recognized in this class over a dozen times previously. In addition, Bart McKay Productions (Saskatoon, SK) has been nominated for the 2015 Recording Studio of the Year Award, following five previous wins and four nominations in this category.

Forty-one CCMA Awards will be presented over four award ceremonies during Country Music Week in Halifax NS, eight of these on the 2015 CCMA Awards Show, broadcast live from Scotiabank Centre on CBC-TV, Sunday, September 13 at 8pm ADT, followed by an encore airing on CMT. Host and performers for the Sunday Awards show to be announced soon.

The CCMA Fans’ Choice Award nominees were revealed last night and the nominees are: Gord Bamford, Paul Brandt, Dean Brody, Johnny Reid and Dallas Smith. Voting for the award is open to the public at http://ccmafanvote.dmds.com/

Country Music Week is an annual celebration that brings together industry and fans for four days of seminars, networking opportunities and non-stop music. The week includes a conference, Discovery Showcases, Songwriters’ Cafés, Guitar Pull, FanFest and a whole lot more.

Jess was the winner of this award in 2014.

MUSIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR - MAJOR MARKET:  Pat Dubois, CKBL–FM (92.9 The Bull), Saskatoon
This is Pat’s second consecutive CCMA nomination in this category.

MUSIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR – MEDIUM OR SMALL MARKET: Cal Gratton – CJVR-FM/CIXM-FM, Melfort, SK / Whitecourt, AB
This is Cal’s fifth CCMA nomination in this category.

RECORD COMPANY PERSON OF THE YEAR: Louis O’Reilly, Big Star Recordings Inc.
This is Louis’ fifth nomination in this category, including a win in 2007.

RECORDING STUDIO OF THE YEAR:  Bart McKay Productions, Saskatoon
Bart McKay Productions has five previous wins in this category, with an additional four previous nominations.

RON SAKAMOTO TALENT BUYER OR PROMOTER OF THE YEAR:  Rob Waloschuk, Performance Promotions Ltd.
Rob has SIX previous nominations in this category.

SINGLE OF THE YEAR: Jess Moskaluke for “Cheap Wine and Cigarettes”

SaskMusic would also like to extend congratulations to Saskatchewan born musician Travis Switzer, who received a nomination in the All Star Band – BASS category this year.

Note: On-Air Personality(s) of the Year (Major Market), On-Air Personality(s) of the Year (Secondary Market), Radio Station of the Year (Major Market) and Radio Station of the Year (Secondary Market) categories are juried by a nationwide panel to determine the winner in each category; winners will be announced during Country Music Week.
