Creative Saskatchewan is pleased to present artists at the Credit Union May Run Music Festival and Canadian Song Conference in Charlottetown, PEI in May 2015.

The Bell Alliant Canadian Song Conference, which runs May 11-14, will include panels, workshops and many top industry professionals from across Canada and beyond discussing not only songwriting but also many other facets of the business of music. The Credit Union May Run Music Festival, running May 14-17, will build on Music PEI’s past years of success incorporating numerous concerts and showcases featuring Island artists alongside exciting headliners from across Canada. Building on the advances that were made in the Atlantic Canadian markets during Saskatchewan Week in PEI 2014 Creative Saskatchewan is excited to support  this Festival as an opportunity for Saskatchewan artists to increase their national and international markets.

On Friday, May 15, the Creative Saskatchewan showcase is open to the public as well as invited music industry representatives and will take place at John Browns Richmond St Bar and Grill, 10pm-2am. Saskatchewan performing artists will be Megan Lane, Zachary Lucky, Jeffery Straker, and The Pistolwhips. See additional performance times for these artists below. An open call for submissions from Saskatchewan artists resulted in these final selections which were made by Festival organizers.

Creative Saskatchewan is also pleased to sponsor the Saskatchewan representative selected to take part in the Canadian Song Challenge, Jay Semko. This challenge is a new initiative of the Canadian Song Conference wherein leading music industry professionals from across North America are brought together to examine and discuss the art and the commerce of songwriting. The project will bring together one artist from each of the provinces of Ontario, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, plus five artists from PEI. These five pairs will collaborate over two days to co-write and record one song each day. On the third day, the pairs will pitch their new songs to a “super panel” of twenty of the top music supervisors and publishers from Canada and the U.S. Participating songwriters will also have an opportunity to pitch their own, previously-written catalogue of songs to these buyers. The songwriters will also be performing during the Credit Union May Run Music Festival. The songwriter selection was also made directly by the conference organizers.
