Saskatchewan Artists Receive Covenant Awards

SaskMusic congratulates two artists from Saskatchewan who received 2014 Covenant Awards last night at ceremonies held in Vancouver. Both are previous Covenant Award winners.

Canada’s Double Portion: Southern Gospel Song of the Year, “Your Love”
Canada’s Double Portion were also nominated this year for Group of the Year, and members Jardeth Hemmerling and Duncan A Hemmerling were nominated in the Country/Bluegrass Song of the Year category for “My Soul’s Still Free.”

Yvonne St. Germaine: Aboriginal Song of the Year, “Stay Strong”

We also congratulate Find the Fallen, who were double nominees this year for Rock Album of the Year (“Shooting Stars and Satellites”) and Collaboration of the Year (Find The Fallen featuring Fresh I.E., “Into the Fire”).

The Gospel Music Association of Canada is a not for profit association founded in 1974, whose mission is to promote the growth and ministry of Christian music arts in Canada. GMA Canada works to raise the profile and interaction of Christian artists, songwriters, producers, promoters and others working in Christian music with media, retailers, distributors and church leadership. The organization is committed to nurturing and developing its members through educational programs as well as celebrating outstanding achievements and standards of excellence in all areas and genres of Canadian Gospel music. It is the presenter of the annual Covenant Awards, Canada’s national awards for the Canadian gospel music industry.

This year, GMA Canada presents the Artist Summit, the 36th Covenant Awards, and Covenant Awards banquet. The Artist Summit is a one day training & equipping event designed for worship leaders, songwriters, touring musicians and everyone in between. The Artist Summit includes panels and workshops featuring some of Canada’s leading songwriters and artists, and also includes a networking lunch hosted by Canadian radio. The Covenant Awards Banquet (November 13) celebrates the best in Canadian Christian music and includes the presentation of the majority of the 2014 Covenant Awards. The 36th Covenant Awards features performances from Covenant Awards nominees and spotlights excellence with the presentation of several premier awards of distinction.
