Saskatoon resident and bass virtuoso, Felipe Gomez from The Bass Invaders, embarked on his second bike and bass bike tour July 1, 2014 to raise money for United Way Saskatoon & Area.

With only his bicycle, his bass and a lot of determination, Felipe will be cycling more than 7000 kilometers from Saskatoon to St. John's, NL and playing shows and facilitating what he calls bass ninja workshops.
In these workshops, bass players will learn different tricks and techniques to take their playing to the next level. You don’t have to play bass to attend the workshops. Felipe will dazzle everyone with his amazing bass techniques.

"I got tired of being the bass player that you can’t hear, so I started making music where the bass guitar is the lead. I want to show other players how to do the same," he states. Felipe is one of the few bass players who fronts his own band and can put on a show with only a bass. His nickname is Eddie Van Halen of the Bass Guitar.

Felipe Gomez is originally from Chile and holds a Bachelor of Education degree. He has taught at Alerces Spanish Preschool & Kindergarten for the past 3 years. "I’ve been lucky to travel around the world and see how education can make a difference on a kid’s life, especially during their early years. This is why I decided to raise awareness and funds for United Way Saskatoon & Area."

Felipe is no stranger to such adventurous and grueling trips - last summer he cycled 3000 kilometers from Tofino, BC to Saskatoon, SK on a similar tour raising money and awareness for Autism Speaks Canada.
"The bike and bass tour is an attempt to travel the globe with my bike and my Bass guitar - I want to share the joy of life and my passion for music."

The Tour kicked off with a free Bass Ninja Workshop at Long & McQuade, 721 43rd St E Saskatoon, on Saturday, June 28 between 2-4 pm and a farewell House Concert on June 29, 2014. Felipe began his epic ride at 9am July 1, 2014. Email info@bassandbiketour.ca for House Concert or route details.
