“...Keiffer Mclean has crafted an album that is both philosophically adventurous and musically daunting. Harnessing lithe harmonies that seem to flourish amidst his organic folk leanings, Mclean’s lyrics similarly reflect a world view that could only come from the inspired mind of a budding career musician.”
Chris Morin, ominocity.com

“...Keiffer is leading the new generation of DIY folk artists, as he crafts his own unique sound and voice.”
Jared Schlechte, rageregina.ca

“Subtly placing a multitude of instrumentation amongst soothing vocals and memorable melodies has helped this young folk poet make quite a name for himself in a very short time.” Taron Cochrane, Freelance writer

Regina singer-songwriter Keiffer Mclean is set to release his debut full-length album Drama in the Attic with a concert at The Artful Dodger on March 26, 8PM. Joining Keiffer is the latest rendition of his Curiosity Club including Robert Mclean (percussion), Danny Jones (bass), Derek Friesen (trumpet), David Gray (tuba), Bonnie Molson (clarinet), and Susu Robin (piano, accordion). Susu Robin will also open up the evening.

Drama in the Attic sees Keiffer expanding upon his simple-yet-sophisticated folk sound to include an increasingly wider array of eclectic musicianship – expect to hear a clarinet, trumpets, tuba, accordion, and additional instrumentation filling in the spaces along with Keiffer’s guitar lines.

Recorded at Touchwood Studios in Regina, Drama in the Attic features several backing musicians, including Chris Prpich (The Lonesome Weekends and The Lazy MKs) and Keiffer’s uncle Allan Muirhead, a Calgary-based jazz musician who has played with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Diana Krall, Paul Anka and Tommy Banks. Also featured are his father, Robert Mclean and childhood friend and “musical partner in crime”, Jackob Greifenhagen.

Having written many of the songs over the span of the past couple of years, Drama in the Attic is a strikingly lush and original listen that sees Keiffer confidently striding into a realm where his sound has matured gracefully into alternative contemporary along with his folk-leanings.

Now, at the age of 20, Keiffer is poised to make 2014 his breakout year. He looks forward to Drama in the Attic’s official release on March 18 and his official showcase at Canadian Music Week in Toronto in May. He also plans to spread his wings and set out on an album release tour this spring - stay tuned for announcements.

“It's been a ride this past year and not just in the music industry.  It's been a huge process of growth and learning. Drama in the Attic is a collection of songs based on the climax of flipping the final page to a new chapter in my life,” Keiffer explains.

Keiffer Mclean began writing songs in his mid-teens and has since developed into a songwriting virtuoso who has made appearances at several high-profile festivals in 2013, including the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, the Regina Folk Festival, Gateway Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival and JUNOfest. His debut 2012 release, a seven-song self-titled EP, garnered him a nomination in the 'Young Performer of the Year' category at the 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
