SaskMusic and CBC Radio are proud to present the fourth edition of On A Cold Road. If you are looking for a nice quiet evening of entertainment…stay home! If, on the other hand, you want to experience some of the most energetic, young and talented acts from the live music scene in Saskatchewan, then this show is for you! The concert will be recorded live for broadcast on CBC Music, as well as Radio 1, 2, and 3.
This year’s performers include Saskatoon singer/songwriter Jeans Boots, whose “quirky, heartfelt music is a mix of rock, punk, soul and folk.” Hold onto your seat for Father Figures and their “buzzsaw guitar rock,” reminiscent of American duo The Black Keys. Marvel at the ever-versatile Shuyler Jansen, who writes songs that are “driven by a desire to know the unknowable.” His latest album, ‘Voice from the Lake,’ was two years in the making, and is by far Jansen’s strongest statement yet as a solo artist. In this concert, Jansen will explore his rocky edge with backup band Foam Lake, well-known themselves within the Saskatoon scene. And Regina’s Andy Shauf, perhaps one of the province’s finest songwriters, serves up a collection of new-folk pop songs that begin and end with sincerity and meaning.
On a Cold Road will take place on March 10, 2012 at the Broadway Theatre in Saskatoon.
