Donny Parenteau and Jason Chamakese Successful at Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards

SaskMusic is pleased to congratulate Prince Albert’s Donny Parenteau, who was the leading nominee going into this year’s Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, on receiving 5 awards at the event, and Leoville’s Jason Chamakese, who won his category of Best Traditional Flute for his latest album, “Native American Flute Songs Vol. 2”.

Donny’s awards include
• Best Country Album (To Whom It May Concern)
• Best Producer/Engineer (Donny Parenteau and Harry Stinson)
• Best Music Video (My Girl)
• Best Songwriter (My Girl)
• Best Male Artist

He was also nominated for Best Album of The Year and Best Song Single.

The 13th annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards were held in conjunction with the Canadian Aboriginal Festival, November 17-20, 2011 in Toronto ON. The CAMAs were handed out at a gala event on November 18 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, featuring performances by some of the best Aboriginal musicians from across Canada and the USA.

SaskMusic was pleased to provide travel bursaries to support Donny and Jason’s attendance at the CAMAs, with funding for our Aboriginal Music Program provided by Astral Media Inc.
