Today, the SOCAN Foundation announce the launch of the inaugural South Asian Music Prize, presented by SiriusXM Dhamaka, a new national award recognizing emerging South Asian music creators in Canada, shaping the country’s diverse and evolving musical landscape.

Created to celebrate artistic excellence, elevate underrepresented voices, and support meaningful career development, the South Asian Music Prize arrives at a pivotal moment of growth and global visibility for South Asian music and culture. The initiative reflects SOCAN Foundation’s commitment to ensuring Canada’s music ecosystem continues to recognize and invest in the creators shaping its future.

SiriusXM Dhamaka, on Channel 769, showcases everything from Bollywood to bhangra to hip-hop and more. It is the home for South Asian music that breaks boundaries and spans generations.
