The International Songwriters Day Song Contest celebrates its 7th year on April 9, inviting songwriters from around the world, at all experience levels, to help kick off International Songwriters Day. The contest seeks original songs, music videos, and lyrics centered on this year’s theme, “Inspiration,” with an emphasis on hope, redemption, new beginnings, and second chances.
Judging focuses on originality, melody, and lyrics rather than production or performance quality, recognizing that great songwriting stands on its own. Entries will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of industry veterans with decades of experience and numerous accolades, all united by their respect for great songs. Categories include Song, Indie Music Video (for artists not signed to a major label), and Lyric/Poem, all with an inspirational focus.
Past contests have been voted “Top 10” by Music Connection, reflecting the organization’s commitment to elevating songwriters and strong songwriting. Winners will be announced on April 9 in honor of International Songwriters Day.
