Steppin' Stone album cover

Steppin' Stone

THE JEFF MERTICK BAND

2011

“A collective of great musicians all pitch in and set the stage with this all original Funky/Blues album. Exquisite guitar playing and vocal abilities are displayed by the vibrant song writing of the very talented musician Jeff Mertick, who hails from Regina, Saskatchewan. While the album as a whole opens the doors to new and exciting music it also harkens back nostalgically to greats like: Sly and the Family Stone, Tower of Power, and The Black Crowes. The sweet prairie landscape in some way intertwines the urban sprawling jungle to create a style all its own. Mastered and engineered by Patrick Andrews, each song is well thought out and tonally charged. The horn arrangements by Carter Powley, are both expressive and complimentary. The music is danceable and playful, yet at the same time it keeps a richly emotive and interestingly syncopated groove, laced with hints of latin and jazz. S’teppin’ Stone’ is the album for music lovers of all kinds.”

Produced by: Jeff Mertick & Patrick Andrews. Recorded at: ZeStudio, in Zhener, SK. For more info: www.myspace.com/thejeffmertickband
