Society of Good Intentions

The Strange Valentines

February 2018

The fifth album from this duo, their albums have been a journey from electric rock sounds to more acoustic folk, with an honesty and rawness conveyed via acoustic guitar and mandolin in this release. The warm and engaging voice of David Farrell, along with the sweet and haunting voice of Janet Mills, tell stories of personal struggle, nostalgia and what might have been, with rich blended harmonies and some quirky twists. From the depths of a ’Bad Day,’ despair in ‘Valentine Vampire,’ being lost in ‘The Rural Abyss,’ and triumph of the spirit in ‘Tortoise,’ the songs have an element of intimacy and sharing one’s soul. Recorded at: Feral Studios, Regina. Produced by: David Farrell.
