As founding member of In With the Old, Froese is no stranger to the folk music scene in the prairies. Her second solo album was recorded in a cabin in the backyard of Ellen’s dairy farm by Jill Mack, mostly onto tape. It includes six original songs and six covers of both traditional and modern folk songs; she delivers them in a captivating voice with a distinctive quaver, reminiscent of Joan Baez. Stripped-down and unpolished, with all the tracks recorded live, the album is honest and reflects the singer’s quest for balance between life on the road and home life in rural Sask.
