This is the sixth commercial release for Saskatoon MC Cquel; with the project’s title coming from the ‘odd man out’ concept of Cquel - an MC embracing his golden era, backpack rap sound, and love for hip-hop culture in a time when the new generation of rap goes another direction. Cquel’s style has drawn comparisons to Brother Ali’s tone, and Lord Finesse’s wordplay and delivery. The new album contains boom bap style beats and production from Toronto hip-hop producer and jack of all trades, Rel McCoy; Saskatoon artists Fabric and Brahm Enslin; and engineering duties via the prolific producer, Factor Chandelier.
