The Qu’Appelle Valley
B.D. Willoughby
April 2016
The new psychedelic roots album from B.D. Willoughby explores the lives and deaths of historic figures that shaped Saskatchewan, including Louis Riel, Big Bear, and E.A. Partridge. Musically, B.D. tells the story through well-timed folk rock, with great intros of distorted electric guitar later accompanied by horn sections, old tyme strings, and gospel harmonizing. This is not your granddaddy’s folk music, which makes it very approachable for the emerging millennial audience. The modern arrangement works effectively with straight-to-the point lyrics, telling the vivid story of a past that is often sugar coated. Recorded at: Soulsound Studios, Regina. Produced by: Brett Dolter. More info:
