Along with his usual dark philosophical themes, “The Montana Kid” features some new ones for Tyler, including the aspect of love with “Hanging Roses.” Touching on his dark themes with stories such as “Man On the Porch” and reverting back to his common theme of one man pondering the imponderables on “Stains,” Tyler’s lightning fast solos are present, and displayed on harder rock-roots track “Don’t Fix It”. The album includes contributions from Mike Young (Devin Townsend Band), Aaron Edgar, Glenn Sutter, Val Halla, and producer Justin Bender (Third Ion, Into Eternity), helping to deliver Tyler’s genre-bending style.
