Whiteboy Slim: Queen Street Blues
Old school blues with a dash of reggae and rock. “Authentic as hell, but not afraid to push the boundaries,” this is the sixth release for this veteran bluesman, but the first recorded live with a “one man rhythm section” accompanist Dustin Bowyer. Whiteboy Slim has unabashedly grafted elements of ska, reggae, jazz, rockabilly, and even avante garde improvisation to his blues roots as he explains, “I play old tunes by Robert Jonson, Muddy Waters – all the greats – and unusual stuff like some Fats Waller. A lot of original tunes as well: 12-bar blues with lyrics that speak to contemporary experience.” Recorded at: JamInTheAlley Studios, Moose Jaw. Produced by: Larry I. Gusaas.
