G&S find themselves with their most realized sound to date, despite taking several different directions. It wasn’t until they hit the studio that things became apparent and cohesive – a concept that was unintentionally synonymous with their own journey. Working with producer Boldt (The Deep Dark Woods), sessions were spontaneous, using live takes to find their sound. Even with increased warmth and beauty of arrangements and tones, Smith is a master at producing haunting songs that are informed by powerfully bleak lyrics - even his sunniest moments are shadowed with lingering vocals and drama.
